At the executive MBA education Master of Management in Technology at the University of Aalborg Business Learning is teaching in Change Management theories.
As a part of the teaching a simulation is used. The case i a technology company where a turn around is needed. The company is leading in terms of technology however there is a change going on in the market towards a more commercial focus. Bottom line is that the company is in financial problems.
In the simulation the participants have to interview the management in the company. The interviews gives the foundation for deciding on change implementation with a model inspired by John P. Kotter. Later a plan is created and implemented. The executive MBA students create the change within constraints of time and budget. Some succeed with the turn around and other fail!
At the end the winning team is found and the results, tools and learning is discussed. The participants often uses the theories and experience from the simulation to write the assignment of change they are implementing in their company.
